Leticia Silva dos Santos

Leticia Silva dos Santos graduated from Bath Spa University in 2018 with a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Arts Practice. In 2019 Leticia worked as an art tutor leading drawing classes at the Victoria & Albert Museum in South Kensington, where she would spend the day leading her students in drawing exercises from the wonderful sculptures on display there. Unfortunately, the pandemic and ensuing restrictions on group activities in early 2020 meant an end to these classes, and Leticia decided to move to Midhurst* with her small son in order to enjoy the slower living of the countryside, and find fresh inspiration to continue developing her personal artistic practice, which has always been inspired by nature and natural forms. Some things when experienced, she finds, demand to be re-experienced physically; captured in a way only one person could capture it.

Now having enjoyed spending time working solely as a freelance painter and illustrator, and as the world is seeking reconnection and community, Leticia is bringing her art lessons to the Southdowns. Drawing on her time teaching in London, and the things she has learnt and discovered from exploring the riches of the Southdowns, Leticia will be guiding others in accessing their artists' eye, and how to apply it onto a surface.

Outside the classroom, Leticia continues to paint for herself, and on a private commission basis.

*If you are local to Midhurst, you may have already seen one of Leticia's paintings in person, as she is currently displaying her oil on canvas painting of an Acer in Autumn at the wonderful Café Verdi, where she often goes to enjoy a hot drink and catch up on some admin. The Acer will soon be replaced as it is moved to its permanent home soon, so you haven't yet seen it, catch it while you can, and keep a keen eye out to see what takes its place.
