On Friday 31st October we'll have a lot of reflection work with ELT expert, Leandro Paladino.

Abstract:

Glocalising the ELT Classroom

How can we make global English teaching materials feel at home in our local classrooms? This workshop will invite you to explore creative, playful ways of adapting coursebooks, activities, and vocabulary to reflect local realities—our students, our contexts, our humour, and our voices. Through hands-on tasks, we will “glocalise” sample ELT materials, reworking them to sound more authentic and relevant without losing communicative purpose or linguistic accuracy. We’ll look at examples of cultural adaptation, lexical localisation, and meaningful personalisation that help students see English as a tool for expressing their world. Come ready to brainstorm, laugh, and experiment—by the end of the session, you’ll walk away with a toolkit of practical techniques and adaptable classroom ideas to make your teaching materials truly yours. Serious pedagogy meets local flavour, with a generous dash of play.
