"What if teaching reading also meant teaching students how to learn?", by Belen Oliva Reading to Learn is an approach that turns reading and writing into powerful tools for teaching and learning content more effectively. Through explicit and guided work with texts, students can develop stronger comprehension, expand their language resources, and gain confidence in producing their own texts. In this workshop, we will explore some of the key strategies of the approach and see how they can be brought into the classroom in practical, accessible, and meaningful ways. Here is an invitation to rethink how we teach reading and to discover everything reading can do for our students. "Beyond Words and Grammar", by Alejandra Ottolina Studies show that strong reading comprehension skills help improve overall learning, but the truth is that this is not easily achieved. Why not? Because of time constraints, overpopulated classrooms or lack of motivation, among other reasons. In this workshop, we will debunk myths and explore strategies to activate the cognitive construction process that takes place when we read. We will explore practical strategies to bridge the gap between a text in a book and meaningful communication, fostering the Cs of education. (The four essential 21st-century learning skills: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.) Join me! Let’s make it happen.
