MATCHMAKING PROJECT:
Who is this for and how does it work?
This matchmaking project is for singles looking to meet other single people in Canada - specifically those who live in Ontario or are open to dating people living in Ontario (perhaps this will be expanded later on to include other provinces). It is also open to younger individuals who are also interested in dating 50+ individuals. It is for those who are seeking a serious long-term commitment. The first step is filling out the form in as much detail as possible. We will then send the men's profile to potential female candidates and if there is an interest, a summary of the female candidate's profile will be sent to the man.
The goal of this service is to get people out of the database and help them find a partner. We choose to focus on the 50+ population as we realize there is a shortage of dating opportunities for this sector and we have found the age group to be very motivated about finding a partner. Of course there are no guarantees but the price is extremely low (one popular matchmaker in the GTA charges $10,000 as a starting price) so it is worth the small investment. This project will run from January 1st 2026 until December 31 2027 and you will remain in the database for this duration. For signing up during the introductory period of January 1-31 2026, the fee is only $125 for men and women.
About the person behind the matchmaking project:
Shannon has been the main face of TorontoGTASingles Events for the past few years and is the main person who will be searching for your "special person". She has worked in a variety of settings and countries in event planning, singles events hosting and organizing, education, healthcare and has spent two decades working in social services and humanitarian work where she has gained skills and experience interacting with diverse populations. She graduated from the University of Toronto in Sociology and while working as a front line social services worker, spent some of her free time asking people all over the world about their dating lives and seeking inspiration to develop something in her hometown of Toronto that can help others in a different way outside of the social work sphere.
Why not use a dating app instead?
By filling out these forms, you get a lot more detail than you would on an app. Also here you have someone personally looking out for a partner for you. It is "quality over quantity". You can also save time from "endless swiping" and constantly getting "matched and then unmatched", time-wasters, bots/fake profiles and emotionally-unavailable people or those looking for casual flings. The matchmaker has met several of the singles who are in the database at events and can pick up on nuances related to compatibility, uses intuition etc whereas an app's algorithm does not do this and is more impersonal.
