South London Today
Nikky grew up in Belfast and planned to move to London for a year. Her first job was a make-up artist at The Oval and her first flat was in Waterloo. She fell in love with Lambeth instantly and has lived in Brixton for 20 years. She swapped her make-up kit for South London's buildings, people and places. A writer, she has written cookbooks around the food of Brixton and Catford and was a co-founder of the Brixton Blog and Bugle. She runs the popular Instagram account @southlondontoday.
She is interested in how fashion, shops and housing introduce you to Lambeth past and present and Lambeth’s impacts on the rest of the world. She has been working with St John's Waterloo, Incredible Edible Lambeth and Open House Festival with a focus on how guided walks help community engagement and physical and mental health. Walks helped her recover from a serious illness and adapt to its after effects. Story telling has power and maybe a little magic!
