Debbie Young
Debbie Young is the author of cosy mystery novels mostly set in the Cotswolds and published by Boldwood Books. She also writes short fiction and non-fiction, mostly published by Hawkesbury Press, her own imprint. In 2015 she founded the Hawkesbury Upton Literature Festival to provide a varied programme of accessible, affordable events for the local community, which has earned a national reputation for excellence and innovation. The Festival also provides a platform for local authors and poets, and although speaking slots are in demand from publishers, publicists, and writers all over the country, priority is given to writers close to hand. The Festival is run by volunteers on a non-profit basis to keep ticket prices affordable for all.
Debbie is also a frequent speaker at other events for readers and writers, a co-judge of Stroud Short Stories, and a course tutor and mentor for Jericho Writers. She is a UK Ambassador for the Alliance of Independent Authors and a member of the Society of Authors. Since 1991 she has lived in Hawkesbury Upton, where she is very active on other aspects of community life.
