Codie Gopher is an independent researcher of modern culture, based in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. With over 20 years of experience as a creative and executive in the music industry, Codie is working to ensure that his community has sustainable opportunities by building bridges over the economic gaps to enhance the quality of life for the next generation of Alabama creators.
Codie has been intimately involved in notable Huntsville music projects that have been reported on in national and international media such as Forbes, The New York Times, SPIN, National Geographic, The Source, XXL, and on NPR, BET, and MTV. Because of this, the idea of Huntsville becoming a player in music and music technology is not impossible in his eyes. In fact, Codie believes it’s already happening.
For four years, Codie worked on curating the first hip-hop exhibit at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in Tuscumbia. This project, which opened in August of 2018, documents the influence Alabama hip-hop has had on the music industry and pop culture. Codie also is a self-published author, and believes culture is a key component in the future development of his community. He believes that music education, mixed with a thriving entertainment economy, will make Huntsville and north Alabama even more viable and vibrant.
