The Italian Cultural Society of Washington D.C.
The Italian Cultural Society of Washington, D.C. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Italian language and culture through through cultural events, scholarship awards, and through the Italian Language Program (ILP). The ILP was established in 1974 thanks to contributions from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the mission of promoting the study of Italian in American schools and serving a growing community of learners. Today, the ILP is a leading private language school with over 2,000 enrollments each year. It offers language and cultural classes at every level, including courses designed for native Italian speakers: History, Literature, Cinema, Opera, Art, Music, Travel, Cooking, Food and Wine Pairing, and Latin, as well as themed workshops and Summer Camps for children and teens. Our instructors are native Italian speakers and highly trained to teach Italian as a second language and university-level cultural subjects.
Our cultural events include book presentations, film screenings, lectures on current events, literature and art, regional traditions, wine tastings, concerts, and more. Special events include the Festa di Natale and our annual Gala Awards Dinner at the Italian Embassy. Our members include Americans, Italians, Italian Americans, and all those who share a passion for Italian culture.
