Rivers Run Through Us
Rivers Run Through Us (RRTU) is a project involving local farmers and communities in nature restoration in the River Axe, its tributaries, and surrounding valleys.
The project takes a holistic, collaborative approach to recapturing the natural heritage of the Axe, its tributaries and valleys, through better connections – between people and heritage, farmers and consumers, rural and townsfolk, soil and water.
Rivers Run Through Us focuses on three themes: River, Soil and People. It highlights how river catchments are shaped by water and soil, the farming that depends on them, and the people who rely on what they produce.
The project nurtures community action to monitor river health, protect soils and habitats, and reaches out to empower everyone to find their own connection with the river and its heritage.
The project has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, (made possible by National Lottery Players) and the Environment Agency’s Water Environment Improvement Fund.
