Workshop Introduction a MapServer

Summary

MapServer is the engine behind so many web services today, offering fast and flexible publishing and sharing of spatial data. Underneath the hood, MapServer offers many powerful and advanced features that many users never dig into, and new features are being added constantly. Come learn hands-on about some of the more advanced features of MapServer, from extending OGC services to exporting data to GDAL file formats to very complex symbology and labeling. Learn simple and advanced use cases and debugging techniques for some of these advanced features from a passionate presenter with almost 20 years of MapServer experience!

Requirements (Windows)

• as Administrator, install the latest exe installer from http://ms4w.com (install all package options during that installer)

• verify opening page is visible: http://127.0.0.1

• will also provide workshop materials to extract when closer to workshop date

• important note: it is preferred that each attendee has Administrator privileges on the machines during the workshop (as sometimes Apache changes require Admin rights)

• install a text editor (such as Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/)

• install latest Chrome browser
